Professional Collection

The Professional Collection  exists to assist faculty with their teaching and learning.  Currently, several periodicals are received including:

  • Phi Delta Kappan
  • School Library Journal (book reviews and articles on reading)
  • Voice of Youth Advocates (book reviews and articles on reading)
  • ALAN Review (book reviews and articles on reading)
  • Leading & Learning (ISTE)
  • District Administrator
  • Teaching Tolerance
  • e-School News

Books and other materials are ordered, by request, to assist with the objectives identified by the HS PLCs.

There are also numerous catalogs available in the library to identify materials and/or equipment needed by various faculty.

Career Resources Center

In consultation with the school guidance counselors and the coordinator of the Pottawatomie County Vocational Consortium, as well as other faculty, the library has developed a Career Resources Center.  The center consists of various reference books such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, and study guides for the ACT and SAT, a subscription series of Vocational Biographies (now available online), and another online subscription service from Chronicle Guidance Resource.  We subscribe to Occupational Outlook Quarterly and Career World magazines.  Additionally, there are many books and videos available with career information for those planning on attending college and those planning on apprenticeships or other vocational endeavors.  The Center also supports access to online career exploration services like Kansas Career Pipeline.

Audio Textbooks

A new service was introduced during the 2007 school year - audio textbooks.  Special DVD players are needed to use the books, but all are available for checkout.  Core curriculum texts and some elective materials are available for those students challenged with reading and comprehension.
