Policies and Procedures
Binding

Both library and curriculum materials can be bound.  We use:

They offer free pickup if order is 30+ booksThe fund for binding is a district fund, #1170, to be used for both library materials and textbooks.  Timeframe for returns is about 1 month.

Prices are as follows:
Books up to 12" - 7.50
Paperbacks - 5.60
W/ laminate covers - 5.70
Textbooks - 6.85
W/illustrated cover - 7.25
Reference books, Dictionaries/Encyclopedias - 12.00
Volumes over 12" - 12.00 + 2.90/inch
Magazines (up to 2.5" thick) - 11.25

Note on a slip what should be stamped on the spine.
Spine labeling colors:  black, white, gold
Binding fabric colors – pretty much whatever you want.

Processing

Magazines


  • Pull the magazines that are to be bound.
  • Withdraw magazine barcodes from the online catalog (upon return, new barcodes will be assigned per volume).
  • Tie or band magazine issues together as they should be bound - Note:  American Heritage and National Geographic are bound in 6-month volumes.
  • Check to see that issues are in order, top-bottom, by date beginning with the earliest date in the volume number.
  • Check the volume numbers - some publications change volume numbers every 6 months.
  • On a slip of paper, indicate the title, the volume number, and the dates included in each 6-month stack.
  • On the Purchase Order, indicate for each title, the binding color and the stamp color for the spine.
  • Books and Textbooks

    • Gather the books to be bound.
    • Check books out to Bindery in the online catalog (patron)
    • On the PO, indicate the binding color/type and the stamp color for the spines.
