Future Educators Association at Wamego High School
Teaching is a promising career option. This will be the message communicated to students at Wamego High School this year. WHS now has a local chapter of the Future Educators Association (FEA) in place for the 2008-09 school year. Future Educators Association is an international program for middle and high school students interested in exploring careers in education. FEA is an affiliate of the Phi Delta Kappa International organization, and is the only international precollegiate extracurricular program for prospective teachers.
The local FEA chapter will be open to all WHS students (grades 9-12); the advisor will be Dr. Lori Goodson. Students who participate will gain a realistic understanding of the nature of education and the role of the teacher. According to Dr. Mary Kaye Siebert, “having a local chapter of FEA in place will spark increased student interest in the Future Educators Academy courses that are currently in place at WHS.” Many exciting opportunities will be made available to those who choose to participate.
If you have questions, please contact Dr. Lori Goodson at goodsonl@usd320.com or Mrs. Tammy Biswell at biswellt@usd320.com.
